… the HR Minion. Because even minions have opinions. And giggles.

Geeking out to my heart’s content.

*This is not HR related but I felt like giving it a plug on my blog anyway.*

Tomorrow I will be attending an anime & manga workshop at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD) titled Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits. It is a three day workshop (or class if you are an MCAD student) that brings together academics and professionals in the anime & manga industry to “…explore the creative and cultural implications of anime & manga art”.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big anime & manga geek. The reason why I love attending this workshop (this will be my third year) even though I’m not an Art & Design student and despite feeling like the oldest attendee in the room, is because this is a workshop created by and made for fans with respect, love, and the desire to understand the medium from an academic point of view. It also looks at the unique sub-cultures in Japan that are derived from or related to it as well (such as Cosplayers and Hikikomoris). The workshop is always exciting, interesting, and intellectually stimulating.

So if you follow me on Twitter, do not be surprised by my random geeky thoughts and musings this weekend. Now you understand why. And please excuse the random bursts of fan girl squeals I know I’ll have anytime Voice Actor Crispin Freeman says anything. Or is within 50 feet of me. Or even glances in my general direction.

I hope everyone has a fun and exciting weekend too! We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled HR blog posts next week.
