HRevolution 2010: Let’s do this!
For the last few weeks I have been suffering from barely contained excitement. I’ll be walking along, living my life, when all of a sudden I just feel like jumping up and down like a 5 year old about to go into Disneyland. What is causing these strange and sudden bursts of joy? HRevolution 2010, that’s what. Dudes, I don’t know if I can express how much I am looking forward to this unconference. I was lucky and able to attend the first one last November in Louisville and ever since I have been looking forward to the next one. What has me so hooked? The first HRevolution really impressed me. The conversations (both in and outside of the sessions), the sense of community, the live on-location HR Happy Hour show, meeting so many great people face to face after chatting online for so long, and yes, the fun. How could I not get hooked?
HRevolution 2010 takes place May 7-8 in Chicago and as of this posting, only 46 tickets are left! Go here for more details, to check out who’s already signed up, and to sign up yourself. Seriously, what are you waiting for? Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. But if you are still on the fence, then you need to check out the HR Happy Hour this coming Thursday, March 25th, for a special HRevolution preview show. Big props to the whole HRevolution crew (Trish Mcfarlane, Ben Eubanks, Steve Boese, Crystal Peterson, Jason Seiden, Mark Stelzner, & Joan Ginsberg) for all the hard work they do!
On a related note, my #BFF and #ConferenceSpouse April Dowling and I are thinking we might need an official Conference Chaperone. First of all, with so many awesome people coming, we need someone who will keep us from geeking out on them when we meet. First impressions and all that. Second, we anticipate many shenanigans will be had. Shenanigans I tells ya! What with the tweet ups, #BFFstealin, a really fun back drop like Chicago, and our proclivity towards using explosives, we may need someone to make sure we don’t get too out of hand. And finally, we wouldn’t mind having someone else to gossip with who thinks our crazy antics are cute. Finding us cute is a critical aspect of the position. We are now accepting applications for this exciting role, and offering a competitive compensation package (i.e. Chocolate). Dudes, let’s do this!

I’ll keep an eye on y’all in Chicago. Kinda like the older sister who comes behind and cleans up the debris. 😉

Shauna, thank you for such an inspiring post about HRevolution. I echo your excitement and can tell you that this one will be better because there will be many new faces and voices! I’m definitely looking forward to the HR Happy Hour next week and live in Chicago. Can’t wait to see you there.
Oh, and as for the #BFFstealin’ you know it better not be mine. He’s not only my #BFF he’s my conference spouse. Mike’s the best.

Tammy – There could be a lot of debris… #justsayin 🙂
Trish – I can’t wait to see all the new people and reconnect with the old. There will be lots of hugging. Oh, and in regards to the #BFFstealin, all I have to say is, Game On. 🙂
Rich – Do it. No pressure. But do it anyway. Hehe.

Since I am old enough to be the mother of both you and April, I suppose I should volunteer to chaperone. But will I still get to play?

@Tammy @Joan Brave souls. Brave or glutton for punishment one 🙂
@Trish My only comment is this. Being an organizer takes a lot of time and well, Shauna and I come with time and chocolate. 🙂

Joan – I agree with April, both you and Tammy are brave women. And no worries, there is plenty of fun to be had, you would just have to make sure we don’t get out of hand. 🙂
April – we are so devious, we have this one! #BFFStealin 🙂
